Guttering has finally been done & we look forward to scaffolding being removed. Shame it cannot come down as quick as it went up.

Christmas decorations are up again & day room is feeling very festive. Tuesday 12th Stockwell girl guides will visit us. This is a much looked forward to annual event when children read & sing carols.
Wednesday 13th Stockwell Baptist church will visit for carol service.
Friday 15th is our Xmas party with entertainer Steve.
A lot to look forward to & be thankful.

Craft group still going strong & all busy preparing items for Xmas fair at Library ( South Lambeth Road) this Saturday 25th Nov. Make sure to pop along & get some bargains.
Calling all who can knit or crochet. St Thomas hospital Neonatal Intensive Care unit need some bonding squares (pairs) 5 inch x 5 inch ( any colour, design & wool -must be washable) One square is put with poorly baby & the other with parent & these are swapped over daily. They are so crucial for little premature babies or poorly newborns & parents who are separated at such a stressful time. Please dig out your knitting needles if you can & help . You can send or take to Neonatal Unit St Thomas Hospital .
Farewell. It has been a sad time loosing so many lovely people, Stanley, Marcia, John, & Bob -all connected to Castle House. They will be greatly missed. May they rest in Peace.
Finally work has started in communal gardens. Workforce are busy weeding & re-planting flower beds , cutting back rose bushes etc. It should all look really nice.
New sign. We just got a new sign for our entrance gate to replace the well overdue faded one.

Chair Massage. We had a lovely session with Maline -neck, shoulder & arms massage. All enjoyed it so much we have another session booked this week.
Jumble Sale. A big Thank you to everyone who supported our sale last week. It was very successful & we raised £170 in under 2 hours.
Trip to Margate. We had a wonderful day out to Winter gardens Theatre & enjoyed a lovely Mickie Driver Variety Lunch. Thank you to John our driver from Select coaches for getting us there on time & back home safely.
Farewell. Sadly we had to say goodbye to two dear friends -Frances & Jim. They will be dearly missed. May they rest in peace.
Thanks to Maline for the wonderful massage session on Tuesday May 2nd. Residents enjoyed a 15 min neck, shoulder & back Acupressure massage. All felt rejuvenated & requested a return visit in June. There are many benefits to massage – reduces stress & anxiety, alleviates back pain, lowers blood pressure, Increases blood flow , Enhances immune system, improves flexibility, increases circulation, reduces carpal tunnel symptoms, enhances mood , relieves headache & migraine & boosts energy. Definitely worth thinking about.!
Crafts. Just finished a craft course on Patchwork which all enjoyed & produced some wonderful cushion covers/bags. A big Thank you to Lu for your expertise , support & patience. All looking forward to next project.
First Aid . A big Thank you to Grant from British Red Cross for delivering standard first aid course to residents. Very worthwhile & necessary.
Easter Lunch. 25 booked in for Easter lunch & enjoyed the afternoon which included Fish & chips from Brixton Cod, Easter egg hunt in day room & Easter Bonnet competition . Congrats to Marie for winning & to Moyra & Linda -joint 2nd. Well done to everyone who entered.
Gardens. We are still waiting for soft works to start but Thanks to Moyra for all her hard work tidying up & planting. Daffodils have started to come out & Bluebells look great by entrance.
We just finished a wonderful course on Living with hearing impairment which included a demonstration of available equipment & lip reading. Well worth the sessions .Highly recommend.
Lambeth horticultural society visited on Tuesday to give a talk & advice. What a lovely visit . They brought compost & some daffodil bulbs which we planted in our new raised flower beds. Looking forward to the blooms.
Another new year to look forward to. We welcome 3 new residents Vera, Ronald & Richard. Hope they all settle in & are made very welcome. The grounds are now looking lovely with new benches. We are looking forward to a visit from soft grounds team to plant some shrubs & trees. A very happy story from another resident. Thanks to our IT -Samsung Tablet- he has found & reunited with his family after 30+ years. What a great start to 2017.
